Could Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Have a Multiplayer Mode With Peter and Miles?
A new entry into the Marvel Spider-Man franchise has been confirmed, with the game to be announced at E3 in June 2018. Many have started to speculate as to what will be in the new game, with everyone asking whether Miles Morales will appear and when we'll see him. A different sort of speculation has come from fans questioning whether or not there could be a multiplayer mode in which players can control Peter Parker and Miles Morales separately, allowing them to team up or fight against each other in different capacities, much like Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 2 did when it released back in 2004. Could this be possible
How does this impact the game play?
A multiplayer mode with Peter and Miles would be a great addition to Marvel's Spider-Man 2. It would allow players to team up and take on missions together. This would impact the game play by making it more co-operative and fun. It would also add another layer of depth to the game. However, it is unclear if this will actually happen. Only time will tell. If you have thoughts or opinions about this theory, please comment below! If this were to happen, we might see some interesting results in terms of gameplay. How would that work? Would it require each player to control both characters, who could then switch between them as needed (sort of like Marvel Ultimate Alliance)? What types of missions could they take on together - does one need to escort the other? Could one player control their character while the other picks targets for them to attack from afar?
If such a multiplayer option were added, what type of content would be included in those missions that just couldn't be accomplished solo? That depends largely on which spider-person is leading the mission. For example, if it's Peter Parker leading the charge against all odds, you'll likely see an emphasis on agility and timing in your combat skills and abilities - he needs to outmaneuver his enemies rather than overpowering them outright. If there are less options available to him though, he has no choice but to resort to power over finesse. On the other hand, if Miles Morales takes lead of the mission instead, his experience fighting for justice at night would give him more expertise at stealthier tactics - so expect stealth takedowns, silent weapons use...etcetera. There may even be some kind of special meter you can activate to go into full ninja mode for a short period of time. While these concepts sound fantastic, nothing has been confirmed yet and chances are slim that any official announcement will come anytime soon. Still, what do you think about the possibility of a single player campaign featuring both Miles Morales and Peter Parker? Or a separate multiplayer mode where you can choose either spider-person to fight crime side by side? Let us know in the comments below!

How does this affect storytelling?
This would be a huge departure from the traditional Spider-Man storytelling, where the focus is squarely on Peter Parker. Introducing a multiplayer mode with two playable characters could change the entire feel of the game. For example, if you're playing as Miles Morales, who has an experimental spider suit that lets him travel through different dimensions in order to save New York City. You would have to travel through dimensions to protect the city from other threats (maybe even villains), like alternate dimension versions of Scorpion or Rhino. On the other hand, if you were playing as Peter Parker you might spend more time fighting crime in Manhattan or out in Queens because it's closer to home. It'll also change what we know about their personalities; for example, how does Miles handle himself when he faces off against a villain instead of just stopping them by being clever and using gadgets? If this turns out to be true then maybe players will get a chance to play as both characters at different points in the story! In addition, there are some exciting possibilities when it comes to gameplay. What if players can choose which Spider-Man they want to play as based on the missions they take on throughout the story? That way, gamers can customize their experience depending on which hero they enjoy most. Or maybe Miles doesn't speak English so everything is translated into Spanish and English subtitles are used? Regardless of these choices, one thing is certain: there's a lot of potential here for interesting twists in the upcoming sequel to Marvel's Spider-Mans and Insomniac Games should use this opportunity wisely!
One major part of any good superhero narrative is chemistry between teammates and friends. Since Marvel’s Spider-Man is such a character driven franchise, I think it’s very likely that Scott Lang/Ant Man may appear in some capacity as well. Ant Man played a big role in Civil War II (2016) so he will definitely have ties to Miles Morales since they both fall under Avengers jurisdiction. How do all these possible team ups affect storytelling? The introduction of another player during a single player campaign completely changes the dynamic. Suddenly, your enemies aren't just faceless robots anymore but people like you with similar abilities. And every mission becomes more personal than ever before, especially if Peter and Miles are allies rather than rivals (which they could be given their shared dislike for Tony Stark). Playing as another player gives us insight into how those relationships work outside of combat too. Imagine if you were able to swing around the world map together with your best friend or partner without danger. Or imagine going up against each other in battles against bosses! Either way, no matter what type of gameplay is introduced for this mode, I'm sure it will add a fresh new layer to storytelling in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 - The Game.
Does this mean we will be seeing more of Miles Morales in the game?
We don't know for sure, but it's possible that we'll be seeing more of Miles Morales in the game. This would make sense, considering that the game is called Spider-Man 2 and not Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It would also be a great way to get players more invested in the character. However, with only one year left until the release date, this may just be wishful thinking on our part. But even if Miles doesn't appear as a playable character, he will likely have some sort of role in the story. There are too many references to him throughout the trailer to leave him out completely. So far, there has been no mention of his mentor Tony Stark, which suggests he could be going down a different path. Regardless of what happens in the game, it looks like Miles will still play an important role in the storyline. The post-credits scene from the first game sets up where we might find Miles at the start of this one. All signs point to that being Washington D.C., meaning that he was most likely introduced in Spider-Man 3 (in 2020). There are plenty of possibilities for how this new story line will go and I can't wait to see how everything plays out. I'm personally hoping to see Miles and Pete team up, much like they did in Spider-Geddon or Spider-Men II. They have worked together before, so it wouldn't be too hard to believe that they will do so again.
Miles has come a long way since his creation back in 2011, so why stop now? In recent issues of Spider-Man 2099 #6, writer Peter David says We're all about putting Miles into interesting situations. And judging by the latest trailers and previews released by Insomniac Games, I think he's certainly succeeded. While there isn't any confirmation yet, these clips give me hope that we'll finally get to play as Miles Morales in the next installment of Spider-Man. Seeing as the game takes place five years after the events of Spider-Man 2, anything seems possible. Even though we haven't seen much footage of Miles in action yet, there's no denying that he has been given some attention in this trailer. The creators have referenced him time and time again during interviews, hinting that Miles' presence will be felt throughout the entire game regardless of whether or not he is a playable character. Who knows—we may even get to play as Miles after all! If this does happen, then you better believe I'll be making my way through the game to unlock every suit and collectibles. Until then, all we can do is cross our fingers and hope that Miles appears somewhere in the story mode. Let's keep in mind that Miles had an excellent cameo in the previous installment of the series, but his lack of screen time was disappointing. If he ends up having some sort of supporting role, it will surely make up for what happened last time. Judging by the teaser trailer, this sequel will have a lot more Miles than the original. Besides from starring in the opening scene, we see him fighting Scorpion and swinging around New York City with Iron Man. He wasn't featured heavily either of those times, but there is hope for future appearances if past evidence is anything to go off of. Miles has already appeared in two games as a character to play, so it's safe to say that he will be in the third. In Spider-Man 2 we see him both as a boss and sidekick character, but is it possible that he will have his own campaign? The idea of Miles taking center stage is something that I've wanted for quite some time, but there's still plenty of time for things to change. Most importantly, Miles needs to get more exposure because he has so much potential and people need to know about him. It feels like he's been on the cusp of something big for awhile now, so it would be great to see him really take over. Ever since Miles debuted in Ultimate Fallout Issue 4, where he eventually became one of Peter Parker's successors as Spider-Man, many people have become interested in learning more about his backstory and abilities. It doesn't seem like too much work would need to be done considering Miles already exists within the world of Insomniac Games' Spider-Man. All they would need to do is make sure that he has at least one appearance in order to satisfy fans who are hungry for new content. Miles is a huge part of the Spider-Man legacy, so it's time to include him in the video games as well. Miles has so much untapped potential and should be treated as such.
This could lead to some pretty cool team ups.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could potentially have a multiplayer mode with both Peter Parker and Miles Morales working together. This would be an interesting dynamic, as the two characters have different abilities that could complement each other. Plus, it would be cool to see the two characters teaming up in game. However, it is unclear if this is something that Marvel is currently working on or if it is just an idea. Only time will tell if we will see a multiplayer mode in the next Spider-Man game. But for now, I'm just excited about what kind of new villains there might be. The first game had such a wide variety of baddies, and many of them were very unique. Whether they are returning favorites like Electro or new threats like Mr. Negative, I'm curious to see who will appear in the sequel. The first video showed us Norman Osborn as Iron Patriot but that was back when Harry was running Oscorp and Norman wasn't yet head of his own company (since he got arrested). He could still show up though, especially since he has been involved with Oscorp before and wants revenge on everyone who ousted him from power again! There is also a lot of potential for Mysterio to make an appearance, since he was teased at the end of the first game. One thing that really interested me about Mysterio was how much effort went into his design. Apparently, he's one of the most difficult characters for Insomniac Games to create because their developers had no prior knowledge of who Mysterio is supposed to look like so they needed to do research on him and try various designs until they found one that worked well visually. They also said that one reason why Mysterio may not have made an appearance in the first Spider-Man game was because he doesn't want people copying his look after seeing it in person (but again: I don't think anyone else would be able to replicate those designs anyway). So Mysterio is certainly someone to keep an eye out for in the sequel! Speaking of, there are some hints as to what other villains we'll see in Spider-Man 2. The teaser trailer shows Scorpion coming towards our hero while wearing a symbiote suit which means that Venom must be coming too - maybe all three symbiotes will work together somehow? Of course, Scorpion only has six minutes worth of screen time which means that Venom won't probably show up either. But then again, this is only the teaser trailer and Marvel can reveal more footage down the line if they want to entice us even more. Other than the rogues gallery, I'm most excited about swinging around New York City once again. The first game was great because it allowed you to go anywhere you wanted in Manhattan and go anywhere you wanted on the rooftops (especially when you unlocked aerial combat). When we saw Black Cat swinging around town in her stealth suit, my heart leapt because she reminded me of my favorite Spidey rogue Felicia Hardy. She didn't get her turn in the spotlight as much as I would've liked but hopefully she'll have more appearances this time around. Oh yeah, another hint of a villain that appears briefly in the teaser trailer is Hobgoblin! Which makes sense because his character is associated with Oscorp. What I'm wondering is whether he will be the main antagonist in Spider-Man 2, if he's a foil for one of the others, or if he will be part of a larger plotline. Regardless, it's nice to see that we'll have a chance to swing by the Daily Bugle and talk to J. Jonah Jameson again as well as meet Cindy Moon aka Silk. There's also an Easter egg where you can find Spider-Beetle on top of the Empire State Building! I hope they bring back Kraven too because he was in one of my favorite scenes in the first game. It's funny because I was thinking about a new Spider-Man game and it never occurred to me that there would be a sequel. But I'm glad there is! It'll be cool to see what new features are added to the gameplay, if we will get to visit any of the cities outside of New York (I'm looking at you, Queens!), and who will be the villains. And hey, if the second game turns out like its predecessor, I bet it'll have an amazing story that'll leave us wanting more.
