How to Play GTA 5 on Your PC
Grand Theft Auto V – one of the best-selling and most controversial games in recent years – has finally been released on PC after debuting last year on Xbox One and PS4. Rockstar Games, the publisher of GTA 5, has optimized the game to run smoothly on your computer with minimal effort on your part. Here’s how to play GTA 5 on your PC!
The hardware you need
While it is possible to play Grand Theft Auto V (and other newer games) on your computer, you'll need some pretty high-end hardware to do so. With a game as complex as GTA V, even at lower settings, your computer will have a hard time keeping up with all of those animations and explosions.
On average, a minimum spec'd computer for playing Grand Theft Auto is: 1.7 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor 8GB RAM 2GB NVIDIA GeForce 660 or AMD Radeon HD7870 graphics card 60GB of free storage space If you're looking to go beyond minimum spec, there are multiple options out there—the hardware required really depends on what sort of performance you want out of your game experience. A good rule of thumb? The more money you spend, the better your gaming rig will be.
But if you're just starting out, don't worry about maxing out your build—you can always upgrade later. And remember that while having a lot of RAM is important, you should also consider getting an SSD—it's much faster than a traditional hard drive. It's worth noting that GTA V isn't available on Steam yet, but it should be soon.
In fact, Rockstar recently announced that they were working with Valve to get their games onto Steam again . In order to play Grand Theft Auto V on your PC, you'll need two things: Windows 7 64 bit or above 16 GB of free disk space (for disc version) 45 GB of free disk space (for digital version) And make sure your drivers are updated! That includes your GPU drivers, motherboard chipset drivers, sound card drivers, etc. Also note that if you're running a laptop, you may not be able to run GTA V on it—not because laptops aren't powerful enough, but because most laptops lack discrete GPUs.
That means they use integrated graphics cards instead of dedicated ones. These integrated GPUs tend to not work well with games like GTA V (though some models do support them). You can check whether or not your laptop has a dedicated GPU by going into its control panel and checking under Device Manager > Display adapters > Advanced Settings > Adapter Type.
The software you need
You’ll need an Android emulator (BlueStacks is a good one) and you’ll need a Windows application called APK-File-Downloader. Download both of these programs, install them, then launch BlueStacks, search for APK-File-Downloader in its app store, download it and run it. Now look for Rockstar Games among that list of games and download Grand Theft Auto V. It should cost $0.00 but if not, enter $0 or leave it blank; either way, you won’t be charged anything. After downloading GTA V from APK-File-Downloader, click Install when prompted by BlueStacks and wait for your game to finish installing.
Once installed, launch GTA V from within BlueStacks as if it were any other Android game—and have fun! Just remember that everything you do inside GTA V will affect your progress on Xbox One and PS4, so think twice before doing something stupid like killing someone. There are already plenty of cheaters out there who don’t need help ruining things for everyone else. And keep in mind that because GTA V isn’t officially available on Android, support for it may stop at any time without warning. So play now while you can!
The best thing about playing Grand Theft Auto V on PC instead of console is how much more flexibility it gives you: if you want to try mods for example, simply visit IVGeeks and grab any mod pack you want—it’s all free and easy.
I recommend GFX MODS v1 since it features high resolution graphics with increased draw distance, which makes Los Santos feel much bigger than ever before. When it comes to actually launching GTA V from your computer though, stick with BlueStacks unless absolutely necessary: it still feels strange using a mouse and keyboard to control characters in what was previously a console-exclusive experience. If you really can’t stand using a controller or touch screen, you could always use an Xbox 360 wired controller connected via USB. Either way, have fun! It's been too long since we've been able to play GTA V! Despite its relative simplicity, Grand Theft Auto V is easily one of my favorite games of all time; there are just so many different things to do that it never gets old.
Plus there are literally thousands of fan-made mods out there (some better than others) that will make GTA V even better than Rockstar intended—or at least change it enough that you don't get bored playing it again and again like some people do. Whatever your reason for wanting to play GTA V on PC, remember that once you're done messing around with everything else, come back here and give us a shoutout on Twitter! We'd love to hear about what cool stuff you're doing in Los Santos today. Until then... keep calm and carry on...playing GTA V! Thanks for reading our post about How To Play GTA 5 On Your PC . The steps you need to take
To play GTA five you will need an Xbox 360 controller. It can be connected via Bluetooth or a cable. This is the best way to play it as well as how Rockstar designed it (for me anyway). Also make sure your running Windows 7 or 8 and your computer has at least 4GB of RAM, I have yet to get it running on my laptop with only 2GB of RAM although for my main rig I've run in downgraded settings at low resolution which worked very well but I could never see past 720p. However as long as you have 4GB of RAM then by all means give it a go.
Once downloaded open up Steam and login to your account if not already logged in. Click Library and find Grand Theft Auto V under games. Right click it and select properties from there click local files tab and click browse local files. There should now be a Grand Theft Auto V folder open up that, once again right click inside that folder and select create shortcut. Move that shortcut into steamapps common folder where all of your other games are located so they're easier to find later on when wanting to launch them through steam itself rather than going back into library > games every time you want to launch one of them. That's basically it apart from some initial configuration within Steam itself.
Open up your game library and right click GTA V > configure controls... From here you'll be able to set whatever buttons you wish to whatever functions/actions within game. Don't forget that if using a controller you'll have access to both analogue sticks which gives more options for movement/camera control etc.. The default layout was fine for me however I changed camera controls around slightly as well as melee attacks etc.. but it's really down to personal preference and what works best for you. Once done hit apply changchangeses and save config and exit out of settings. Next step is to actually download and install GTA V onto your machine. You'll also notice that there's two different versions available depending on whether you want to buy it digitally through steam or purchase a physical copy from a store.
If you choose digital then just enter your code and away you go otherwise insert disc 1 and follow instructions for installation. Once installed simply double click the new shortcut created earlier in order to launch game directly from steam itself rather than having to search through library each time. And that's pretty much it, enjoy! :) If you want to know more about why GTA runs better on windows 7 and 8 compared to 10 feel free to leave a comment below and I'll try explain it further! :) Thanks for reading.
