PS5 Games You Can't Miss
The hype surrounding the PS5 has not died down as we approach 2020, with gamers hungry to learn about the upcoming console, which no doubt will boast some truly phenomenal games that’ll blow your socks off! If you’re one of those gamers who can’t wait to learn about the PS5, you’ve come to the right place! We’ve compiled a list of five best PS5 games that you can’t miss out on playing! So without further ado, let’s get started!
Spider-Man
While there has been no announcement from Sony or from Insomniac about a PS5 Spider-Man game, we hope it's in the works. The game feels so natural to play that you forget that the mechanics of parkour and web swinging have been carefully re-imagined for a video game. The city comes alive with citizens who are happy to see your hero swinging over their heads. It's fun and you can help but feel like a superhero even as Peter Parker. There is an emotional depth too with loss, sacrifice, and love that lets this franchise stand out among many superhero games today. With a beautifully crafted world, meaningful combat system, interesting side quests, and plenty of secrets to find, Spider-Man is one of the best games for PS4 players right now. Plus, those spider suits! (A free update added two more suits!)
Destiny 2: Forsaken: Destiny 2 may not be the most popular FPS out there but it was an instant hit when released last year. Bungie created a compelling sci-fi universe that managed to become less repetitive thanks to updates and expansions, as well as great gameplay additions such as clans, strikes and crucible multiplayer modes. In its latest expansion Forsaken, Bungie made big changes by redesigning weapons' balance and adding new story missions with interesting lore and cool environments.
Fallout 76: Fallouts have always done open worlds really well--the Fallout series is all about scavenging through destroyed environments and trying to rebuild society while dealing with other human survivors turned monsters. Fallout 76 takes place years after nuclear war devastated Earth. After getting some initial information on your Pip-Boy device, you get ready to enter Vault 76 and jump back into the Wasteland which has changed since the last time you saw it in Fallout 4. From what we've seen so far, the graphics look very pretty and living in a vault is intriguing to say the least. The fact that there will be constant battles between humans and mutants makes surviving without good friends difficult but also exciting. Hopefully it'll be a sandbox type game where you don't need to commit yourself to specific factions unlike Fallout 4 because frankly, the Brotherhood of Steel became very tedious at times. We want our exploration of post-apocalyptic West Virginia to remain interesting throughout this new journey. Bethesda has introduced a whole bunch of neat systems, like base-building and the ability to use nuclear bombs, to keep things fresh. With so much to do and explore, Fallout 76 is shaping up to be a really ambitious game that could offer hours of addictive entertainment. And with gamers creating their own experience, it should be a blast as well. If you're a fan of Bethesda, this is the game for you.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Developed by FromSoftware and published by Activision, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice follows the narrative of a shinobi (in game called the Wolf) who is scarred and believed to be dead. The player must outsmart and outfight enemies in order to find revenge for his kidnapped lord and master with mystical abilities. This game is so visually breathtaking that it demands attention, which should make this one of the first PS5 games you download when it comes out! This game will most likely not come out until late 2020, but if there's anything From Software can do well, it's develop stunning visuals. I'm betting on them to produce some incredible looking levels and fighting scenes when they release Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice next year. Speaking of captivating art, Super Smash Bros Ultimate has some really great character design as well as an outstanding soundtrack that could rival other iconic series like Persona 5 or Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Unlike those two titles though, this game does require at least one other person to play. Still very worth your time if you're looking for something different than what you've been playing lately though!
Japanese role-playing games have always been the industry’s unsung heroes. It would be remiss not to mention one from a series near and dear to many people’s hearts—Final Fantasy 15. Though it may not seem like much has changed in the four years since its initial release, Final Fantasy 15: Royal Edition offers a lot more content for players' enjoyment. From additional quests to new gear and areas, there are enough things to keep even diehard fans busy with no signs of slowing down any time soon. Plus if you haven't played Final Fantasy 15 yet, now is a perfect chance to get involved before its sequel releases next year! If you're looking for something new and unexpected, look no further than Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. It blends RPG gameplay with strategic turn-based combat that provides hours of entertainment. With all the classic Mario charm alongside a story line created by Ubisoft, this game is sure to delight any gamer young or old! If these games aren't enough to satisfy your gaming needs then fret not because 2019 is shaping up to be another excellent year for gamers everywhere. We still have over nine months left in 2019 so expect plenty more surprises in store including some fantastic PS5 games too! For example, Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release in April and we still don't know much about it, but CD Projekt Red has already made waves with the game's debut trailer. There are also plenty of sequels coming out this year such as Devil May Cry 5, Spider-Man PS4, and a brand new Splinter Cell. Other upcoming games include Child of Light 2, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, and Kingdom Hearts 3!
Death Stranding
In development by Hideo Kojima and his studio, Kojima Productions, Death Stranding's official unveiling was done during Sony's E3 2016 press conference. We then found out that it is a third-person action game starring Norman Reedus. In Death Stranding you play as Sam Bridges who must carry and protect the newborn of death called Sam Bridges for reasons unknown. It's due for release in 2019 on PlayStation 4 so far but rumours suggest it will launch with the PS5 instead - fingers crossed!
With little to go on regarding gameplay mechanics and details, we can only wait until its final release date (supposedly 2019) before we can learn more aboutabout this anticipated title. What we do know though is that one of the standout features in this game is the use of cel-shading, which has been seen elsewhere in titles such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD or Persona 5. For those unaware, cel-shading essentially uses a pre-rendered art style where character designs are created using hand drawn cells which give an animated cartoon look and feel to them when rendered into video games. For example, the cell shaded effect from Ni No Kuni II and Persona 5 are just two examples of how this style works.
But don't let that fool you; there is plenty going on beneath the surface with Death Stranding even if we don't know what it'll be like. Judging from the trailer, it seems like there will be an emphasis on melee combat against human enemies alongside some quick time events thrown in for good measure too. All I can say is I'm looking forward to seeing more!
It's also one of many upcoming titles due to release soon, alongside others such as Days Gone and The Last of Us Part II. Indeed, within a few years of play most gamers should have an extensive library of PlayStation 4 exclusives to choose from - a far cry from where we were three or four years ago! Of course, that's all assuming you have enough cash left over after splashing out on your next-gen console itself... but then again who am I kidding? Of course you do - otherwise why would you buy one in the first place?! Here are my top five favourite games coming out for the PlayStation 5:
1. Death Stranding
2. The Last of Us Part II
3. Kingdom Hearts III
4. Detroit Become Human
5. Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima
There's so much hype around Ghost of Tsushima and with good reason. With a unique art style and gameplay that blends both stealth and action, the game has everything gamers want in one immersive experience. Plus, it features gorgeous visuals of Japan during feudal times. Ghost of Tsushima is the first open-world samurai game on the PS4. From IGN: One genre (stealth) just got reskinned to feel like another (action). And it all somehow manages to work. I could finally play as a badass Samurai I wanted to be thanks to its intense combat system. The story might not be revolutionary but it does manage to create an immersive world that makes you care about the characters' struggle against oppression. If you're looking for a new kind of Assassin's Creed title, then Ghost of Tsushima is your best bet! It takes place in 1274, where an unnamed character traverses the landscape and fights off enemies while taking down oppressors.
In addition to being a great introduction into Japanese culture, Ghost of Tsushima features impressive visuals. Alongside this, there are boss battles which offer up more challenge than expected due to their size and tactics - you'll have to think outside the box if you want to beat them!
With 15 minutes worth of exploration allotted per mission, this is a must-have title for those who love immersion within their games. So, if you've been waiting for the next big thing to release on PlayStation 5, keep an eye out for Ghost of Tsushima! As of now, this is a must-play title for 2019. For Honor: For Honor offers up some brutal medieval warfare set in medieval Europe. Not only will you be able to take control of different factions such as Knights, Vikings or Samurai, but you can also customize your warrior by equipping gear and skills accordingly. What really sets For Honor apart from other medieval warfare games is the intense melee combat system which requires precision timing and planning in order to execute the perfect combo or defense move. If anyone needs some help getting started on For Honor then we recommend playing its tutorial mode which will teach players how to master fighting techniques quickly. Once mastered, they'll be able to take on one of four multiplayer modes: Dominion, Brawl, Duel and Elimination. While Dominion is the most popular option, Duel allows players to fight 1v1 in a no-holds barred battle until someone gets knocked out. Elimination features two teams that go head-to-head until one team's points reach zero. While Brawl pits two teams of four warriors against each other with different win conditions such as controlling the objective point or defeating all members of the opposing team. Fable 4: Fable 4 promises a whole new land filled with magic and mystery. Players will get to explore the land of Albion as a hero, champion or villain. They can choose to be a hero and save Albion or choose to be a villain and destroy it. These choices impact the game in many ways: They affect the outcome of quests, make you friends with certain NPC's and even change which buildings you can visit in towns. Of course, Fable 4 is going to include all the traditional features that fans have come to know and love. That includes humorous interactions with NPC's, humor-filled dialogue choices and an emphasis on player choice. More importantly, this is a title that changes every time you play it! Every decision that you make alters the game's world, which means that players will always have a new experience with every playthrough.
One of the greatest things about Fable 4 is that it's a completely different type of RPG. For example, in this game your choices matter: Your alignment and decisions will have an effect on Albion. Your alignment can be changed depending on your choices as well as the people you meet and interact with. Heroes, champions and villains all have their own version of Albion which changes depending on their actions and decisions. This is why Fable 4 is one title that cannot be missed!
The Last of Us Part II
We're excited to finally have confirmation on what the next PlayStation game will be. According to Sony's press conference, the game is set 15 years after the first game, with Ellie as the main protagonist. Players will work alongside her and a friend to overcome new challenges. Joel is also coming back! While the trailer only offered up a brief glimpse of gameplay, it seems promising enough to earn it this spot on our list. It's one of the most anticipated games right now, so we can't wait for more information to come out about it. Assassin's Creed Odyssey: The long-running Assassin's Creed series is getting its latest installment, Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Set in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War, players will play as either Alexios or Kassandra to fulfill their destiny. Both protagonists have the same abilities and stories, but they take place at different points in time. With an expansive world full of side quests, this looks like another fun entry into the franchise that fans are eagerly awaiting. Death Stranding: After all these years, Hideo Kojima's latest project still has people talking - and now we know that it'll arrive before 2020! Details are still sparse for Death Stranding; however, what has been shown makes us want to see more from Sam Bridges' journey through post-apocalyptic Earth. From cryptic trailers to Kanye West's involvement, there's plenty to discuss about this upcoming title. Cyberpunk 2077: What started off as just a vague idea by CD Projekt Red has grown into one of the most hotly anticipated games ever made. To say too much would spoil any chance of experiencing Cyberpunk 2077 for yourself, but rest assured that it is not just hype. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Geralt returns once again in this third chapter of his story (and you might notice some changes). Building off everything he did in both previous titles, you can expect even more complex combat and life simulation than ever before.
Red Dead Redemption 2
The last time we had a Western-themed open world game on the PS4 was 2014's Red Dead Redemption 2. The now legendary title has gone down in history as one of the most compelling games of all time. For anyone who hasn't played it yet, or has only played it once, it's time to have another go. This is Rockstar at their best; a beautiful, cinematic and emotional experience that deserves a second chance. Plus, with its multiplayer mode now out there are even more opportunities for you to play this epic masterpiece with your friends. If you're still not convinced, then just watch the trailer below. It will make you want to dust off your old console and get playing. What are you waiting for?
• Borderlands 3: Gearbox’s seminal series is back after eight years away from gaming consoles. And what an amazing return it has been too. Borderlands 3 offers an extensive RPG system and so much content that even after months of gameplay we’re still finding new things every day. With some incredible artwork throughout, cleverly written dialogue and a thrilling campaign that never fails to deliver – this is going to be another hit among gamers when they finally release next year.
• Detroit: Become Human: Quantic Dream released their final chapter in David Cage’s trilogy last year and made it look really hard for any other developer to beat them anytime soon. The studio might be done but it doesn't mean that developers can't take inspiration from Detroit: Become Human. With detailed and realistic character models, multiple story routes and endings to explore, players should expect nothing less than a blockbuster if they decide to pick up the game when it releases later this year. We can already tell how close it looks to real life thanks to the trailers and it seems like we'll feel part of a movie ourselves. One thing is for sure - if you haven't seen or played this then you don't know what you're missing!
Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Dating back to the Playstation era, Spyro first came to life in 1998. Now, over twenty years later and after being resurrected from extinction, Spyro is back on PS4 with Reignited Trilogy. It will feature all three original Spyro games remastered for today's consoles, plus new ways to explore each game. The levels have been updated but will retain their signature charm and challenge you through lush environments filled with sharp detail and vibrant color that only HD can provide. Like the name suggests this isn't a new adventure for our favorite purple dragon. It's an origin story told about his rise from little purple hatchling with just one goal-to fly! How can you not be excited for more? Fans of the old school console are already itching to get their hands on it. Get ready because Reignited Trilogy will release November 13th, 2018. In case you're wondering what other awesome titles will be coming out then, here are some other top best ps5 games you can't miss: Spiderman: Here's a superhero who needs no introduction. Spiderman has always been there for us; saving New York City from its many villains with quick wit and witty humor-you know, the usual. Well now he has returned to the PlayStation world in Spiderman! Developed by Insomniac Games (makers of Ratchet & Clank), this latest iteration puts players into his skin as they fight crime across Manhattan - both above ground as well as below ground where danger lurks at every turn. Did we mention he'll have access to some serious web slinging skills? Oh yeah!
Kingdom Hearts III
The eagerly awaited, Kingdom Hearts III is a great game for those who love Disney, Pixar, and Square Enix. Fans of these properties will enjoy the story that goes with this game, as you watch and play through the main character Sora's journey to save all of his friends from pure darkness. The game is fun with plenty of boss battles that will put your skills to the test. There are also many worlds to explore while solving puzzles and fighting enemies throughout your quests. Some have complained about how some worlds have too many pop-up cutscenes that interrupt gameplay. However, overall fans like Kingdom Hearts III and are looking forward to playing it again because they enjoyed completing this quest the first time around! They also look forward to future DLC (downloadable content) updates coming out soon. One downside to this game is that there can be a lot of voiceover in certain scenes which might cause players to miss dialogue or find themselves skipping some cutscenes altogether. Another drawback is that the combat system could use more depth but other than that, the majority of players find Kingdom Hearts III to be an enjoyable and fun experience.
