How to Swallow to Glow: A Holistic Approach to Skin Health

Did you know that the liver, skin, and small intestine all have the same type of tissue? This means that whatever food you eat can be broken down and used by your skin just like it would be used by any other organ in your body. Swallow To Glow aims to help people use food as medicine to support healthier skin from the inside out by showing readers what foods their skin wants and needs! Whether you’re just starting to wonder about your skin or are dealing with an autoimmune disease, allergic reaction, or persistent acne, this holistic approach to skin health might be something worth trying!

Herbs and Essential Oils

The following are some of the herbs and essential oils that are used in my practice. 1. Calendula - This is a flower that I use as an anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, vulnerary and for wound healing. 2. Lavender - This is a popular oil that can be used for wound healing, burns and to reduce inflammation. 3. Tea Tree - Tea tree is great for acne and oily skin due to its antibacterial properties. 4. Citrus - Citrus has a natural astringent property making it good for breakouts and sensitive skin types due to the pH balance it provides. 5. Chamomile - Chamomile is also a good astringent for irritated skin and helps with dryness by providing moisture. 6. Peppermint - Peppermint is another herb that can help with dryness due to its menthol content. 7. Rosehip Seed Oil - Rosehip seed oil contains vitamin C which will provide hydration and improve collagen production which reduces wrinkles or lines on your face 8. Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) GSE kills bacteria on the surface of your skin making it perfect for acne treatment or preventative.  measures against new breakouts 9. Oregano Essential Oil - Oregano is an anti-fungal so it’s perfect for any athlete who has fungal infections like jock itch 10. Helichrysum Essential Oil - Helichrysum helps regenerate the body’s cells and promote healthy skin 11. Turmeric Root Extract 12. German Chamomile Essential Oils 13. Geranium Essential Oils 14. Laurel Leaf 28. Bay Leaf 29. Cypress 30. Spruce 31. Pine 32. Basil 33. Caraway 34. Angelica 35. Wormwood 36. Celery 37. Parsley 38. Lavandin 39. Sweet Marjoram 40. Comfrey 41. Fenugreek 42. Eucalyptus 43. Sweet Fennel 44. Cardamom 45. Niaouli 46. Birch 47] Thyme 48] Peppermint 49] Marshmallow 50] Meadowsweet 51] Uva Ursi 52] Andrographis 53] St John's Wort 54] Elixer Plant 55]. These are just a few of the many herbs that are used to heal, beautify and support skin health. What is the best way to ingest these? One option is to swallow a capsule, but that may not work for those who have trouble swallowing. For these people, it might be best to add a dropper of the essential oil into their favorite carrier oil and apply it topically. Another option would be to take a small amount of dried herbs and make tea out of them. You can either make an infusion (where you steep them for about fifteen minutes) or a decoction where you simmer them for about thirty minutes. In addition to the herbs listed above, I often prescribe more specific herbs for each individual based on their symptoms and needs. I’ve found that herbal medicine is a very effective and gentle way to combat skin problems. It can be used for both external and internal ailments. When I first began practicing, I didn’t believe in the holistic approach to skin care until I saw the benefits it had on my patients. After seeing how beneficial herbs are for skin, it was hard for me to go back to what I had done before.

Stress Relief

Stress is an unavoidable part of life, but it doesn't have to be a negative thing. In fact, there are many benefits that can come from dealing with stress. Stress can motivate us and make us more productive. It can also help us feel challenged and engaged in our work. However, stress becomes unhealthy when it goes on for too long or when we experience too much at once. This is what we call chronic stress.

Chronic stress can lead to a number of physical and emotional problems including weight gain, insomnia, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety and heart disease. The first step to reducing chronic stress is learning how the body reacts under these conditions so you'll know what needs attention when your body begins sending out warning signs. After identifying what's causing the chronic stress and addressing those issues, learn new coping skills. Finding time for fun activities such as spending time with friends or taking up a new hobby can be great ways to relax and recharge. Taking care of yourself by practicing good self-care habits like getting enough sleep, eating well and exercising regularly will also reduce your stress levels. Sometimes, even just five minutes of deep breathing can relieve tension and promote relaxation. Along with all the things you do to manage stress, it's important to remember to not forget about your skin. You may be surprised at some of the hidden causes for skin problems such as dryness, acne breakouts and sensitive skin which can all stem from chronic stress levels. So instead of hiding behind makeup (which only creates more stress), take a holistic approach by focusing on improving your overall health through diet and lifestyle changes which will result in glowing skin!

Even small improvements are worth your time and energy. A lot of times people avoid improving their overall health because they feel it would take too much work, but that’s why we have great tips to get you started on a healthy path to better skin while offering resources to find healing methods that are right for you. For example, changing little things in life can make a big impact towards bettering yourself such as finding ways to spend less money everyday or buying healthier foods at lower prices than usual. It’s not always easy but following our simple tips and information guides can help point you in right direction towards healthier skin! We hope this helps! Skin and Self-Esteem: Many of us are told that our appearance should be our most valued asset, but at the same time we are being discouraged from loving our natural skin. The media sends mixed messages to us on a daily basis, telling us to cover up or hide flaws in order to seem perfect. As a society, we have made the problem worse for ourselves by teaching others to become more confident in themselves through superficial means.

These flawed messages can create higher levels of stress when you don't live up to expectations that others or society set for you. Self-esteem can play a large role in how we view ourselves and what our feelings are toward ourselves. The way we think about our skin can change depending on how we are feeling and what's going on in our lives. The constant barrage of what society deems as the perfect image can be harmful to the way we feel about ourselves. When we constantly compare ourselves to unrealistic beauty standards, it leads to feelings of insecurity which can then turn into low-self esteem.

The more we love ourselves for who we are, the more we will be able to take care of ourselves. That includes our skin! We all deserve to love and respect ourselves for who and what we are, not for how someone else wants us to look like or act like. There is no such thing as a perfect person, so start working on accepting yourself by understanding that you're beautiful no matter what!

Additional Tips

A holistic approach to skin health is one that involves looking at a person from all angles - physical, emotional, and spiritual. It's about treating the whole person, not just the surface of the skin. But how does one go about taking a holistic approach?

* Start by doing your research on what holistic medicine has to offer for skin health and wellness. * Then make time for yourself each day- think about what you need emotionally and spiritually for your own well-being. * Next, take care of your body with a healthy diet and plenty of exercise; you are what you eat and do! * Lastly, commit yourself to following through with this new way of living in order to see long-term results. You'll notice an increase in energy levels, improved mental clarity, better sleep, less stress, and fewer digestive problems as you continue down this path. In addition to improving your mood and overall quality of life, these changes will also have an impact on your complexion- both physically and mentally. On top of that, maintaining your hygiene habits like washing your face and using moisturizer will become second nature. And don't forget to drink plenty of water! We often forget how important it is to drink enough water every day when we focus so much on food choices. Remembering to hydrate often can actually improve skin texture and tone. I've found my skin looks healthier, more radiant, and more youthful after I started drinking more water. At first I was skeptical because it seemed too simple to work- but there were no adverse effects whatsoever. Drinking six or more glasses of water per day helps boost energy levels and regulate metabolism. And studies show that people who drink lots of water enjoy stronger immune systems than those who don't or those who overindulge in caffeine instead.

A holistic approach to skin health means working with the body, mind and spirit together. Working towards self-care and wellness isn't always easy but I believe it is worth striving for if you want your best possible appearance (inside & out). Self-love goes beyond feeling confident and beautiful on the outside. It's about knowing who you are, embracing your flaws, and being comfortable with who you are inside and out. Without love for ourselves we cannot give love to others in our lives. Being happy makes us glow inside and out! My name is Monica, founder of Swallow To Glow. I am a wife and mother living in NYC, where I run a company devoted to holistic beauty products and services. For years now I have researched the latest trends and developments within the beauty industry so that my customers get access to high-quality products made with natural ingredients free from harsh chemicals. Recently, I’ve been reading about some groundbreaking science on gut bacteria and its connection to skin health! The connection between gut flora and our skin really piqued my interest because here at SWALLOW TO GLOW we believe that balance starts in the gut. What can be more essential than supporting gut health? If the gut is the root of your health, then the skin is a reflection of that. It makes sense, then, to start with your gut health and let it lead to clear and glowing skin! Below I have included links to a few articles I've read on this topic. I hope they're helpful for anyone who is interested in learning more about how their gut can affect their skin. This holistic approach to health is something I believe in and encourage for my clients, because it's not just about making your skin look good- it's about being a happier, healthier person from the inside out. Let me know what you think of this idea! I would love to hear your feedback!
